Kitchen Alchemy with Jordanna Levin
Jordanna Levin wears many hats. Retreat caterer, recipe developer and manifestation mentor, she seamlessly blends the skills required to run a successful business with a dollop of creativity and healthy sprinkling of practical magic. We sliced the top off a couple of green smoothies and settled in for a chat on the things that feed her soul…
Growing up in a home where moon phases were honoured and tarots regularly shuffled, Jordanna absorbed witchy-woman skills by osmosis while keeping her feet firmly on the ground. 10 years in publishing polished her professional toolkit. Says Levin, “Working in media taught me how to deal with people in the corporate world, speak to advertising and PR people, create systems and processes. Those skills are invaluable.”
During this time she became fascinated with food and health coaching, developing recipes for ACP before being employed as Digital Editor of a well known health website. While the program boomed her life belly-flopped. Friends and relationships fell by the wayside. A broken foot and twice-dislocated shoulder suggested it might be time for a change.
Jordanna’s passion for wellness slowly morphed into catering for retreats. “Food for me is joy. I love stirring, incorporating elements of Ayurveda into the recipes I create, and the instant satisfaction of seeing people eat.” While nourishing bellies she also began to nourish souls in her successful monthly manifestation series, Lunar Nights.
“I started the event series as a way to open people up to the knowledge that they are in control of their future. That might sound woo woo but it’s actually very practical. I use a manifestation equation to guide the group through a series of meditations that allow them to identify what they would like to invite into their lives. Love, financial freedom, health, parking spots – the laws of vibration are the same when it comes to manifesting energy.”
So how does it work? Thoughts + feelings + actions + faith = manifestation. While the first three might seem self-explanatory, Levin says faith is the crucial element. When you take responsibility for the co-creation of your life, dance the sweet space between action and surrender, the universe will show up to do its part.
Her take on Yoga Cucina?
I worked at 10 retreats in 2017, and after a while they can start to blend into one, but Yoga Cucina was like nothing I'd experienced before. I call the ladies the hostess('s) with the mostess('s) because the level of service was beyond! Their hospitality backgrounds shine through every thing that they do. From the seamless schedule (that didn't feel like a schedule at all), to the impeccable table service, their emotional support and of course the juicy, soul nourishing, heart opening, and expansive yoga classes.
The whole bloody thing was unique! Can I say bloody?! The food and wine was top notch, and not something you'd usually get to experience at a yoga retreat. It was as chilled as the pre dinner cocktails and filled with unexpected indulgences, wine tastings, cooking classes and epic yoga! I honestly have not stopped raving about it to anyone who will listen!
